Mary Jo Borel, 62 years old, lost her thirteen month battle with brain cancer on November 10, 2019. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a sassy sister, adoring aunt, and friend to everyone she met. She passed peacefully in her home in Overland Park, Kansas surrounded by family.

  Mary Jo was born on June 29, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio to Harold and Rita Barker. She remained in Toledo until 1979 when she moved to Olathe, Kansas to live with her sister. She graduated from McAuley High School in 1975 and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Toledo in 1979.  Mary Jo had a very successful career at Liberty Mutual and Jules Borel and Company.
 

     She will be missed for her "world’s brightest" smile, kindest soul, loudest laugh, and most contagious personality. Her caring heart touched everyone who was blessed enough to have known her.

      She was married to Robert Borel on November 25, 1989, and gave birth to twin girls on March 20, 1991.  She is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, Robert Borel, and her children Bridget and Caitlin Borel of Overland Park, Kansas, her sister Susan Higgins (John), Brother-in-laws John Borel (Sharon), Gray Borel (Cindy), Randy Borel (Sally). She thoroughly enjoyed her 18 nieces and nephews, Christy, Beth, and Patrick Barker, Jeff and Michael Higgins, Tim Mike, and Denise (deceased) Gallagher, Shelby, Brooke, Jordan, Jami, Jamie, John, Jenna, Jillian, Cassie, Angie, Kristin Borel, and 24 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Barker.

    Her Memorial Service was held at Heartland Community Church located at 12175 South Strang-line Rd. , Olathe, Kansas 66062, on Friday, November 22, 2019. Visitation began at 5:30 with a Scripture Service starting at 6:30.
