Dr. Wilton Rea Anderson

Wilton Rea Anderson, DO, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife, Jan March 5th, 2021. Wilton was born to Percy & Margaret Anderson on September 28, 1931. He attended Greensburg Highschool. After one year of college, he joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Decorations and commendations received; National Defense Service Award, Korean Service Medal - 2 stars, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal. Following military service, he completed his college degree and attended medical school in Kansas City. During his 30 plus years practicing medicine as a primary care physician, he was on staff at four hospitals in Wichita, KS, as well as a member of the local state and federal organizations and societies. He and his wife Jan relocated to Bella Vista, Arkansas. They spent 24 years playing golf and fishing together. They also traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico enjoying their time together.

Wilton is survived by his wife Jan; daughter Robin Swilling, and husband Roger, of Columbia, MO; daughter Julie Bannister, and husband William, of Kansas City, MO; son Rex Anderson, and wife Diane, of Kansas City, KS; Jan’s son Dale Rickerson, and Vonnie, of Fort Scott, Kansas; Daughter in law Mary Anderson, Hunker, PA; Sister Sharon Anderson, Minnesota; sister-in-law Thelma Anderson of Pratt, KS; He is preceded in death by his parents, son Blake, and brother George. He is survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.

With Wilton’s love of books and reading, a memorial has been established at Bella Vista Library Foundation: 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72714. At Wilton’s request, no service is scheduled. A private dedication will be held for the family.
